With GoFormz, you can set your mobile forms to automatically fill out specific fields with default or system values. Implementing auto-fill fields can save you time and ensure accurate and consistent data entry.
This ProTip shows you how to setup an auto-fill Date and Time field. It may seem like a very simple piece of information to capture, but precise date and time capture is paramount to keeping accurate records (said another way, missing or inaccurate date/time values can lead to big headaches down the road).
First, login to your GoFormz account and open the template where you want to add the auto-filled date field. Your screen should look something like this:
Next, in your Toolbox Table, drag & drop a Date or Date Time field onto the template.
Drag the field into place where you want it to be located. In our example template, we want to auto-populate the ‘Date’ field.
Please take the time to format and name your field in the Properties Table located on the right side of the Template Editor.
Once your field is correctly formatted, properly named, and in its designated location you just have two steps left to have an auto-filled date field. While the date field is selected in your template, in the Properties Table click on the box next to Default Value and select ‘Current Date/Time’ and press enter.
That action will autofill the date/time of the moment in which the form is created. If you want to lock down the field so that it cannot be altered or changed click on Lock First Value and select Yes.
This is what the date will look like on a form when it is properly setup to autofill and lock the value:
