5 Fields to Add to Your Digital LOTO Forms

Digital Lockout Tagout (LOTO) forms improve visibility into job site safety procedures and help to safeguard teams working with hazardous energy

Clearly communicating LOTO procedures is critical when working with machines and equipment that could expose workers to hazardous energy. For example, teams working with wiring, wind turbines, or conveyer systems could all be exposed to hazardous situations if preventative steps are not carefully taken.

Digital LOTO forms make it easy for teams to establish, communicate, and follow Lockout Tagout procedures. Existing LOTO forms can be easily digitized for use on phones, tablets, and computers, allowing teams to rapidly generate and fill out Lockout Tagout documentation directly from their mobile devices. These digital forms can guide users through the LOTO process, ensuring critical information is captured before a form can be submitted. Once Lockout Tagout forms have been properly completed, they can be submitted from anywhere (even offline in remote locations – forms will automatically upload once a signal has been regained) and instantly accessed by back-office teams or routed to superintendents, safety leads, and other personnel.

Ready to digitize your LOTO forms for use on phones, tablets, and computers? Check out the five fields you should include in your digital Lockout Tagout forms below:

  1. Database fields (Drop Down menus, Barcode Scanning, etc.)
Your digital forms can be easily connected to Data Sources, databases, and other platforms, allowing your team to make selections and instantly populate corresponding fields with information. For example, if a user were working on a specific piece of equipment, they could scan a Barcode and instantly populate the equipment’s information and display corresponding LOTO procedures. This allows your team to make its Lockout Tagout form instructions dynamic, ensuring teams are armed with the necessary information to safely complete their tasks.

  2. Required fields
Ensure critical information is input before a form can be submitted by making fields Required. For example, if a user tried to submit a digital LOTO form without adding their Signature, they would receive a message informing them that they will be unable to submit the form until they enter their signature.

  3. Dynamic Field Properties
Dynamic Field Properties allow your forms to adapt to a user’s needs, in response to input data, a user’s Group membership, and more. For example, certain LOTO criteria could be made Visible and Required if a user is a member of a Supervisor Group or selects a specific Checkbox

  4. Signature fields (with Timestamps)
With digital forms, your team no longer needs to hunt down missing signatures, as they can be made Required and can even instantly populate the time when the signature was captured.

  5. GPS data
When a form is generated, it can instantly populate the user’s GPS information, making it easy to track the location of specific LOTO procedures and improving visibility into your team’s activity.
