Celebrating Earth Day 2023 with GoFormz
Join GoFormz in celebrating Earth Day 2023!
Our planet is a unique place, providing life as we know it. It’s a cozy distance from the sun, covered mostly by water, and remains perfectly in orbit to host life like us! And while our Earth is amazing, it needs our help to thrive and provide resources for future generations.
That’s why each year on April 22, people from all over the world come together to celebrate Earth Day! Earth Day exists to honor the achievements of the 1970 environmental movement and advocate for the protection of Earth’s natural resources. On April 22, 1970, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson and Denis Hayes, a graduate student from Harvard, organized a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental conservation. By 1990, Earth Day was celebrated across the globe by more than 140 countries!
This year, as GoFormz celebrates Earth Day, we reflect on our commitment to reducing paper-based processes. Since 2012, we've helped thousands of customers replace their traditional paperwork with mobile forms. Going digital not only offers convenience and efficiency but also reduces paper waste. Less paper means less water needed, less energy used, and fewer trees cut down! Check out our all-time conservation stats!
GoFormz All-Time Stats
Paper
People use paper in school, at work, for books, to wrap presents, and much more. According to the University of Illinois, the average office worker uses 10,000 sheets of copy paper each year! In fact, the United States is the world's largest producer and consumer of paper.
We’re here to change that. Since 2012, GoFormz has saved 191,920,865 pages of paper! This all comes down to our core belief: Anyone should be able to fill out forms online from any device instead of paper. And that belief has since saved nearly two million pages of paper. Shocking, right!? By reducing the amount of paper we use, we can make a significant impact and protect our planet.
Trees
Trees are the primary source used in paper production. But the entire process, from planting a tree to buying paper, takes a very long time; about 10 to 20 years just for a tree to reach maturity. Plus, making tons of paper from trees doesn’t do much to help the planet either. Studies show about 42 million trees are cut down every day for both paper and other products. That’s an alarming number!
To see how many trees GoFormz has saved to date, we had some help from the Paper Calculator. We found out that 191,920,865 pages equals 23,000 trees saved using GoFormz! That number of pages also disturbs 357 acres of forest, equivalent to the size of 270 U.S. football fields. That’s no small feat! We’re beyond proud of our team who keeps GoFormz up and running and our customers who help support our mission.
Water
Water is a vital resource for life, and paper production requires a lot of it. According to the University of Illinois, it takes more than 1.5 cups of water to produce one sheet of paper. This means the more paper we use, the more water we consume. Moreover, the paper industry is the largest industrial consumer of water in Western countries. It’s time to change that.
We went to the Paper Calculator to see how much water GoFormz has saved. Their water consumption data measures the amount of process and cooling water that is used to produce paper. We learned that 191,920,865 pages equals 20,500,000 gallons of water. That’s equivalent to 31 Olympic-sized swimming pools! We can’t wait to see how much that number increases by 2024.
GoFormz Celebrates Earth Day
Earth Day brings together people from around the world to raise awareness and take action to protect our planet. It’s founded on the principle that all people and generations have the right to a healthy, sustainable environment.
GoFormz is celebrating this Earth Day by reflecting on the paper resources we’ve been able to save and preserve. From 191,920,865 pages of paper, 23,000 trees, and 20,500,000 gallons of water, we are so thankful for every customer who contributed to these numbers.
And if you’re not taking advantage of digital forms, it’s not too late to start! It can be as simple as using a digital sign-in sheet in place of a paper one. Every page counts when it comes to protecting and preserving our unique planet.
