The Differences Between Signature Fields and eSign Fields
It is very important to note the key difference between Signature fields and eSign fields: E-SIGN Act compliance. GoFormz also supports an independent Signature field that is not E-SIGN Act compliant.
The Signature field can be used for signatures that do not need the weight of E-SIGN Act compliance and simply need a quick sign-off, like a volunteer sheet. These signatures are not legally binding and available starting at the Basic account.
The eSign fields allow you to collect legally binding, E-SIGN Act-compliant signatures in your digital forms. These fields meet both E-SIGN Act and UETA requirements but always check with local and industry regulations to confirm that your exact use case is in compliance. Unlike the Signature field, these fields are only available for trial and paid accounts: our Team, Advanced, and Enterprise tiers.
How to Add eSign Fields
The first step towards collecting eSignatures is adding the fields to your digital form. Digital forms are documents that can be filled out directly from phones, tablets, and computers.
Easily create an electronic signature form from your existing paper form or create a new one from scratch in the GoFormz Web App. Then drag and drop an eSign field onto your template in our easy-to-use builder.
GoFormz provides two eSignature options:
eSign Signature field
eSign Initials field
Both fields allow you to collect an E-SIGN Act-compliant verification in a legally binding digital document.
How to Sign eSign Fields
As soon as your template is built, you can start sharing your digital forms. When filling out the form, signers can create an electronic signature by either typing or drawing.
Once a signature is created, either by signing a form or through your account settings, this signature will be saved and pre-populated on eSign fields going forward. If you wish to change or edit your signature’s appearance, you can do so within your details page in the Web App.
