A big benefit of using Mobile Forms is that you can easily include all sorts of new data types in your forms. Your mobile device gives you access to a variety of the device’s resources that capture all sorts of information such as GPS coordinates and date-time. One of the most popular device features to use with a mobile form is the camera.
Single photos can answer questions like who, what, when, where and why. Paired with descriptive text, an image tells a more complete story. Imagine how much more information an image can add to an inspection form. For example, if you are filling out an inspection form for a heavy piece of machinery, quickly snap a photo and write a few lines of notes. It is so much faster, easier and thorough than trying to explain it through text. Other popular use cases of images in mobile forms are: before & after photos, employee headshots, product packaging verification, site inspections and DIY visual guides.
Do you have a form that can be improved with an image field? Image fields can take your mobile forms to the next level. They will ease the process of collecting and storing observable information. Check out the ProTip: How To Include Images In A Form to learn how.
Below you can see an example of a jobsite inspection form that was augmented with image fields.

We heartily agree with the adage, “A picture speaks a thousand words.” It speaks to one of our favorite mobile forms features – including images in a form. When you fill out a form on a mobile device you can use the device’s camera to capture images to include in your form. It saves time and improves the quality of form data, providing context and visual information.
Adding image fields to your GoFormz Form Template is quick and easy. Here are the basic steps to get you started.
First, login to your GoFormz account and open up the template that you would like to add image fields to. After doing so, you should have a similar screen to this:
On the left side of your screen you will see the ‘Toolbox’ menu and within it you will see the ‘Image’ field.
Click on the ‘Image’ field, then drag and drop it onto your template. You will see the image box as shown below (a ‘Mountain View’).
You can resize and place the image field in the section you want to include it in. Follow these same steps to add more image fields to your form, if you wish.
When your image field is selected, notice the ‘Properties’ menu on the right side of the Template Builder.
In the Properties menu you can name the image, add a description, and align it correctly to best fit your image field. You have either the default option that aligns the image to the top left of the image field or you can choose to center it. When adding your image decide which alignment best fits your needs.
Your image fields are now ready to be used! When filling out the form, simply tap on the image field you want to fill and then you can either launch your device’s camera or choose from your photo library. Below you can see how it appears on an iOS and android device.
There you have it! Easy right? Including images in your form will make your mobile form data so much better and improve your job-site experience.
