Goldwind Americas, a leader in PMDD Turbine Technology, needed a solution to digitize, streamline, and simplify their documentation throughout the turbine installation process. With technicians working long hours in remote locations across the United States and Canada, it was important that paper forms were eliminated from this process, so their team could function more efficiently while incorporating each of the steps necessary to complete the installation process.
“One of the most challenging aspects of their job is managing the paperwork process involved with detailing inspections of wind turbine components at ports of entry along with additional inspections once the components arrive at the wind farm site,” explained Toni White, of Goldwind Americas. “In addition to the inspection forms, they also have to document any damages that might occur. Finally, there are checklists that must be completed as the process moves from building the wind turbine to the point of putting the turbine online to the power grid.”
Goldwind Americas’ documentation digitization not only needed to not eliminate paper forms and manual resources but also map input data to specific platforms for document control, as well as folders within Sharepoint and Procore. To assist with this comprehensive project, they turned to the GoFormz Professional Services team. Partnering closely with Goldwind Americas, the GoFormz Professional Services team worked to identify each of the tasks each form template, workflow, and automation would need to accomplish.

Goldwind Americas’ digitization process resulted in transformative benefits for the operation. Forms that originally took six hours to complete can now be completed within five minutes, resulting in an immediate cost savings of around $50,000 for Goldwind Americas.
“The result of the project to-date is a decrease in time for each technician to complete a form that took up to 6 hours from start to finish to approximately 5 minutes. The immediate cost savings of our digitization project was just under $50,000.”
