ProTip: Add Uneditable Text to Your Forms

Easily add uneditable text to your digital forms

Often when working with contracts, waivers and other forms that have explicit terms, conditions or policies that must be included, relying on standard Text fields alone is simply not enough. To provide critical document information that cannot be altered by form users, it is best to include uneditable text in your Form Template.

You can add uneditable text to your form by completing the following:

Pictured above is our new Template Editor, coming mid-November.

  • Login to GoFormz from a computer

  • Open your form in the Template Editor

  • Drag and drop a Text field onto your form and adjust the field size as you see fit

  • In the Properties section (to the right):

    • Locate the ‘Multi Line’ property and select ‘Yes

    • In the ‘Default’ property, enter your text in the following format

      ="Enter your text here"

For example, if you wished to include the following sentence...

By signing this contract, you agree to accept all terms and conditions written in here.

...it should be entered into the Default property like so:

="By signing this contract, you agree to accept all terms and conditions written in here."

  • Click ‘Save Changes

Now, when a Form is generated using your aforementioned Template, your entered Text can no longer be edited – further enforcing procedure and reducing opportunities for mistakes.

Extra credit: Change the background color of your uneditable field so that form users can more easily understand that the field cannot be altered.
