ProTip: Annotate Your Images with Sketch Fields

Add Sketches over your digital form Images

When completing forms like inspections and project proposals, it can often be difficult to clearly communicate key details or hazards with text alone. Relying upon paper forms to complete this documentation, it can be difficult to capture and provide further context to input data, requiring the use of cumbersome cameras, costly printing materials, and troublesome record-keeping.

With digital forms, it’s easy to add Images to your documents directly from your mobile device or computer – eliminating the need to bring cameras to the job site and manually print or upload them to the appropriate application. These Images bring further context to input data. For example, if a job site inspector were attempting to document a hazard on site, text alone might not fully communicate important details. Using Image fields to accompany this information can help to visually communicate these details.

To even further communicate critical details, a Sketch field can be used to host and annotate images. For example, a Sketch field could be used to upload or capture an Image and annotate key details, like hazardous wiring, using the Pencil tool and arrows. Below we’ve outlined how to add and use Sketch fields to annotate key details within an image.

Adding Sketch fields to your digital form

  1. Login to your GoFormz account from a computer and locate (or upload) the form you wish to add photos to. Click to open that form in the Template Editor

  2. Drag-and-drop a Sketch field onto your form Template

  3. Click ‘Save’.

Using Sketch fields to add and annotate Images

  1. Open your form in either the online Form Editor or the GoFormz mobile app.

  2. Select the Sketch field and then select the Image icon from within the Sketch window.

  3. Either take a picture using your mobile device or upload a photo.

  4. Once you have added the photo, you can now add annotations. There are several options you can use to annotate your image, including the Pencil tool, Arrows, Text, Circles/Rectangles, and more. You can even change the color of these annotations. Add your annotations and click ‘Done’.

  5. Click ‘Done’ in the Sketch field window.
