ProTip: Dynamically Update Your Mobile Form’s Name to Include a Customer Name

Instantly include customer names in your mobile form names

A form’s Default Name is the name given to any new mobile form created from a specific Template. Just like most other GoFormz features, your form’s Default Name can be easily customized to dynamically meet your specific data capture needs. For example, if a user were completing an invoice for a customer, the Default Name of your form could dynamically adjust to display that customer’s name alongside the form name: Invoice - Dale’s Towing.

Configure your form’s Default Name

Configuring your mobile form Template to dynamically display a customer’s name is easy – simply follow the steps below:

  1. Login to your GoFormz account from a computer.

  2. Locate the mobile form Template you would like to have dynamically display a customer’s name.

  3. Select the Gear Icon to expand the Settings menu, and click ‘Default Form Name’.

  4. When the ‘Default Form Name’ dialogue box appears, enter your desired form name and any Template Variables you wish to include. These variables can include specific field names (like a customer name) and metadata variables (like a date a form was completed or a username). Enter any text you would like included within each form name, and enter your variables within brackets. Example: Invoice - [Customer Name] 

  5. Click ‘Done’ and then click ‘Save Changes’. 

Now, when you create a new form from this Template, it will dynamically adjust to display whichever Template Variables (in this case, the Customer Name field) you included in the Default Name of your mobile form Template. By configuring your form to dynamically display key data points within its Default Name, locating, accessing, and organizing forms is far simpler and more professional. This same process can be used to include a variety of field data within your form’s Default Name, for example, the date of when the form was completed, what user completed the form, and more.
