ProTip: Fill Multiple Form Fields with the Same Information

Automatically populate field data within multiple instances in the same form using the Replicated Fields feature

One of the more monotonous aspects of paperwork is the need to fill in the same information within a number of different form fields. These redundant data entry demands often occur within lengthier documents, like applications, and often result in conflicting information and a variety of other data entry errors.

For example, when completing a real estate transaction, lengthy paperwork detailing the agreement often requires the buyer to enter their full name or contact information within several instances within the same form. When relying on paper forms, the buyer would need to handwrite this information throughout the form, presenting various opportunities missing information, illegibility, or incorrect data entry.

With digital forms, redundant data entry can be easily eliminated using Replicated Fields. Replicated Fields allow users to drag-and-drop several instances of the same field onto their digital form. This means that a user would only need to complete the field once and that same information would be populated throughout each instance in the form.

How to add Replicated Fields to your digital forms:

1. Log in to GoFormz from a computer and open the Template you would like to add Replicated Fields to.

Select the Template Fields section to view the fields currently placed on your form

2. Once you have placed the field you would like to replicate, return to the Template Fields section and select the Template Fields option (at the bottom of the section, Add New Fields will automatically be expanded when you open your form in the Template Editor). Your Template Fields will expand, displaying each of the fields currently placed on your Template.

Drag the field you would like to replicate onto your form

3. Locate the field you wish to replicate and drag it onto your form. For this example, we’ll be replicating the Sales Rep field to accompany the electronic Signature field at the bottom of our document.

4. Click ‘Save Changes’.

Now, when a user enters their name into the Sales Rep field in our Job Proposal Template, their name will instantly populate in the ‘Name’ field accompanying our Signature field (the ‘Name’ field is the Replicate Field placed in step four).
