How to Create Fillable Forms for Android

Creating fillable forms for Android devices is incredibly easy

Fillable forms for Android empower your team to rapidly generate forms, fill them out, and complete them from their Android devices. Once submitted, these digital forms can be immediately accessed and reviewed from anywhere, requiring no hand-delivery, postage, or faxing – dramatically accelerating your daily business processes, like billing, payroll, customer service, and more.

Utilizing fillable forms for Android also helps to elevate the accuracy and completeness of collected data. This is accomplished by equipping your digital forms with business logic and instant calculations, which help guide user data entry and enforce important data capture rules (e.g. certain fields only made editable for specific users, etc.).

To get started creating fillable forms for Android, sign up for a free GoFormz account, and log in from a computer. Then, follow the simple steps below:

1. Upload a form or select a Starter Form Template

A Template is the master version of your digital form. Once you have set up your Template, you can fill out as many forms from it as you need.

To create your fillable form for Android log in to GoFormz from a computer and select either ‘Upload a Form’ or ‘Starter Forms’

You’ll have two options to create your fillable form Template

  • By using a free GoFormz Starter Form Template

  • By uploading a JPG or PDF file of your existing form to the GoFormz Template Editor

For this example, we’ll upload a PDF file of an existing inspection form. To upload our PDF and customize our Template, we’ll select ‘Upload a PDF’, upload our inspection PDF file, and give it a name. Then, click ‘Create Template’.

2. Customize your fillable form Template

The Template Editor will load, displaying our uploaded inspection form between two sections: Template Fields (which shows each of the fields you can add to your form Template) and Properties (where we can easily configure how each of our fields look and behave). To customize your fillable form Template

  1. Drag-and-drop a field from the Template Fields section, onto your form. Once we’ve added a field, we can resize it and change its location.

  2. With our fields placed, their properties can be configured and customized in the Properties panel. Here we can change the name of our fields, make fields Required, change their Background Color and font, and even add logic to make them dynamic

You can configure your fillable form’s ‘list view’, a small screen optimized viewing mode

(Optional) Configure your fillable form’s List View

With our form fields placed and properties customized, you can now configure your form’s List View, a viewing mode optimized for smaller screens. Think of your form’s List View as an ‘app-like’ index of form fields, which can be easily organized for optimal data entry! Your List View can be easily organized into Tabs and Sections, allowing your alternate viewing mode to mimic the intuitive organization of your original Form View. You can toggle between your two viewing modes as often as you need while using the GoFormz app.

3. Click ‘Save changes’.

(Optional) Automate Template Events

Once you have saved your fillable form Template, you can select the gear icon to access more customization options, including Template Events. Using Template Events, you can configure your form Template to instantly complete actions based on predetermined Triggers. For example, when a user in a specific Group completes an Inspection, your Template could instantly email a PDF copy of the completed form to an input email address, supervisor, customer, subcontractor, and more.

And just like that, you’ve just created your very own fillable form that can be completed from your Android device (or any other iOS, Android, or Windows mobile device).
