ProTip: Use A Single Table Field Across Multiple Pages

Leverage a single Table field across multiple digital form pages

GoFormz users rely on digital data capture for its versatility (as opposed to paper documents, static PDFs, and rigid data capture app alternatives). For this reason, we’ve made our Table fields even more flexible, customizable, and dynamic, allowing form users to use a single Table field across multiple pages.

Why teams use a single Table field across multiple pages

A single Table field can be used across multiple pages of your mobile or online form, allowing users to enter data into the same Table throughout different stages of the form.

For example, you might have an order form featuring a Table field for customers to select specific products. This Table could be easily separated into different sections (e.g. lumber, electrical, asphalt, etc.) allowing customers to enter their order information in an intuitive, detailed manner. Because a single Table is utilized within the form, any calculations and totals completed would include the values entered within each instance of the Table used (you can also specify specific rows within your Table to calculate). This functionality can be used as many times as you’d like throughout your form.

Use case example: timesheets and overtime
Using a single Table field across multiple instances can be used to simplify data collection for a variety of use cases, for example, timesheets. When completing Timesheets, some organizations wish to separate overtime hours from standard hours worked, but include them within the same final calculation of total hours worked. Using a single Table separated into two instances can help distinguish these hours, while allowing both Table sections to function as a single field.

Configuring your Table across several instances

You can easily separate your Table fields into several instances within the Properties panel. Within the Max Rows property you can set the maximum number of rows to be included within your Table, and then adjust your Starting Row and Number of Rows properties accordingly. For example, if you wanted to split an 8 row Table into two instances, your properties would display as:

Table instance #1

  • Max Rows: 8

  • Starting Row: 1

  • Number of Rows: 2

Table instance #2

  • Max Rows: 8

  • Starting Row: 3

  • Number of Rows: 6

Please note that this functionality is only available in Form View.
